ESAB Adaptio | 2022 — 2023

Development of the Adaptio system—an autonomous submerged arc welding (SAW) solution designed to weld V- and U-grooves from root to cap within programmed tolerances. The project included a dedicated laser-scanner with robust image analysis for groove-profile extraction, real-time seam tracking with bead placement control, and adaptive welding algorithms for fill and cap layers (e.g., speed/current adjustment and bead sequencing) to achieve consistent joint fill. A defined calibration workflow and continuous process logging support repeatable operation in production environments.
